Ingredients
Scale
Turmeric Milk
- 1 cup whole milk (or milk of choice)
- 1 cup full fat coconut milk
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (plus more for garnish)
- 1 tbsp maple syrup
- pinch ginger
- 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
Optional
- whipped cream
- marshmallows
- 1 teaspoon coconut oil (if not using coconut milk)
Instructions
- In a small saucepan, heat the milk of your choice over low heat. I prefer to use half raw cow’s milk and half full-fat coconut milk. The coconut milk contains fat that helps turmeric be absorbed. However, if you don’t have coconut milk, add 1 teaspoon of coconut oil!
- Add the turmeric powder, coconut oil (if using), maple syrup, vanilla extract, cinnamon, ginger, and black pepper powder.
- Whisk the ingredients together until well combined.
- Infuse warm spices by continuing to heat the mixture over low heat for about 5-10 minutes, allowing the warm spices to infuse into the milk. Be cautious not to bring the mixture to a boil; we want a warm, comforting drink.
- Pour the golden milk into a cup and serve it warm. Top with marshmallows or whipped cream and a dash of cinnamon if desired.
How To Make Iced Golden Milk:
- For a refreshing twist, you can easily transform the golden milk into a chilled beverage, perfect for summer!
- Prepare Golden milk according to directions.
- Allow the golden milk mixture to cool to room temperature.
- Once cooled, transfer it to a glass container and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or until thoroughly chilled.
